After something that happened tonight, I’ve decided to take a small break from blogging. I originally started blogging a long time ago to keep my family in the loop about what I was doing on the other side of the country. Over time, I’ve sort of felt compelled to write because I think that somewhere inside I have something important to say from time to time. I’ve always tried to be honest on my blog, to hold up a mirror to the inner workings of my life so that others might possibly learn something from the reflection I cast. Unfortunately, writing a blog has its ups and downs, and sometimes in the process of trying to help you can inadvertently cause others to hurt.
For those of you who rely on my blog as a way to keep in touch with me, I’m afraid we’ll have to go back to old fashioned means. And for those of you who have lurked in the shadows this whole time, it’s unfortunate that we never had a chance to chat and to get know each other.
I’d like to think that after a while I’ll start writing again, but I think I’m going to take some time out for me for a little while. Thanks everyone for reading, for contributing, and for taking part in my little online presence while it was active. I’ll keep the site up and the domain registered, and someday, hopefully in the not too distant future, start writing again.
For those looking for other things to read, here are some that I like to read.
Matt’s Blog
Darren’s Blog
Derek’s Blog
And also a bunch of links at the right.
Here’s the last photo I took tonight, for those of you who liked looking at these:

Sincerely,
Duane Storey
I’ve only just started reading your blog recently, and I will miss your writing! But I can understand the need to take a break and sort things out… hope your break from blogging goes well and that, if it’s right for you, you come back to it someday. I’m leaving you in my RSS feed just in case….
Hey Bud, Beautiful picture. We sure hope this is temporary. We always on a a daily basis look forward to reading your blog. I hope you will feel the urge to expond again soon…
Duane, always enjoy reading. I will probably check in everyday in the hope that there will be something new.
Could not believe how many great shots you got in London before your return to NA.
Only started reading your blog post Northern Voice. I admire some of the posts you’ve written and respect your decision to take a break from it. One little story about contact with other people on the streets .. a girl came up to me on Saturday trying to figure a way into a locked car park - I let her use my phone to ring the car park people for directions. I really had to think fast and hard when she asked if she could use my phone … afterwards I wondered if I was right to be so cautious/cynical, guess you have to make the decision on what you have in front of you.. For you I hope it means you will return to blogging again soon.
Take care! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog, and look forward to your return!
Enjoy the break….we all need some sometime. get out there and do stuff for you. You will have lots to say soon!….look forwarded to your return….Duaner we love ya!
you wimp. the “old ways” don’t work. oh well, maybe you can drive out to white rock once in a while now. visit your new niece
Just wanted to add that I’ve been enjoying as well. Have not been driving down here to the ol’ comment posting interface, but have been reading and enjoying.
Send me an email, would love to sit down and talk about what “this” means. Blogging gave me a start, don’t think I can give it up, even when my posting is infrequent….
does this mean i’ll actually have to talk to you now :p
in person??
Yeah it sucks I know..
Hey Duane, like a bunch of other people, I’ll miss checking into your blog to see what interesting perspectives on life you are working through, and amazing photography, and such a sincere guy…
But wait! that’s what the phone/coffees/hangingout is for- thanks for the reminder of the importance of friendship in the previous post. Enjoy the break! Pink says Hey.
