My Photos on the Web

As I was browsing the internet tonight and accidentally ran into a photo of mine on a website. So, while I was there, I figured I might as well see where else some of my photos have ended up.

As I was tracking these down in Google, I realized how nice a feature it would be if Flickr had some sort of trackback mechanism, then you could see who was using your photos on the web.

There is a imperfect way that I just recently discovered. Treat your Flickr site as a blog, and use Technorati. You can see who’s used your photos at http://technorati.com/search/http%3A%2F%2Fflickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fduanestorey. Naturally, you’ll be included in that list yourself. Since you can’t insert code into your Flickr site to claim it, it isn’t a perfect method; but you can then click on the RSS icon in the URL box to track new uses (or alternatively, add “feeds” in front of “technorati” in the URL).

Crap, I meant to clean up the URL before hitting submit; it’s a lot simpler for people to read as http://technorati.com/search/http://flickr.com/photos/duanestorey
