Once again, I’m tired. It’s 4:59am Toronto time, and I’m just getting to sleep.
I had a wicked time hanging out with Tony, Raymi, Phil, Christie and Chad tonight. The night was shut down early thanks to some asshole who broke the styrofoam eyeball, but it was still fun. I took a pile of shots, most of which are available here. That being said, my favourite shot of the night was Raymi kicking some guy’s ass playing guitar hero.

Dale is passed out on the bed next to me, and he’s leaving first thing in the morning to hang out with Matt on tour. I’m getting up around 10:30, packing my shit, and heading for the airport for the journey home. I should be back in my apartment sometime around 4pm PST. Normally I hate traveling, and end up missing home every day I’m gone, but honestly, I haven’t really thought about Vancouver since I left. So going home for me is almost a bit surreal, since I haven’t really been missing it. I’m sure I’ll be happy to be back at home, but for now, I can honestly say I had a wicked time and met some amazing people. It was really a great weekend, and I’m totally glad I spent the money to come out here.
Here are a few more shots.

Christie and Tony

Chad, workin’ the camera
All kidding aside — Up until a few hours ago I thought that thing was just a party decoration. I didn’t realize it was part of someone’s costume. Granted all that happened around 3am, so I think it got some good use. However, if anyone knows the guy and he’s bummed, let him know it was an accident and I’ll replace it for him if he wants.

Awesome photos from the trip, Duane! Happy to hear that you had such a blast!!
i can safely say this was one of the mentalist weekends ever.

I adore you Mr. Duane Storey! You are “good people”. :)
May you come back and visit Toronto, more often (or just move. full stop.)
Your photos are lovely, even though I look rather destroyed in most of them.
funniest part of the whole weekend by far
and i loved that basement!
great hanging with you duane and thanks sooooo much for telling me about the Westin!
Duane didddddddddddddddddddddddn’t know it was a costume, the laughter had mostly to do with the fact that he fell, and injured himself and weall just heard a big BOOM!
Instinct. As I said that evening, if my best friend had fallen down the stairs, my initial reaction would be to laugh hysterically but I would be sooooooooooooo upset and worried at the same time. That’s sort of what happened. Except add the guilt of now feeling awful for that guy’s costume. :(
Duane, I am trying to find out his name, so I can help him create a new one before the 31st!
Aww, that’s sweet! Let me know if you find him and I’ll talk to him too and see what I can do! Yah, I’d laugh too if one of you guys fell down. I actually did fall down the stairs too last halloween. And I fell down some lip in the floor on my birthday this last year too (which ended up breaking my $500 prescription eye glasses which I had had for all of, what was it, two days).
I’m not very stable apparently.
Duane!
I happened upon your site after Halloween last year. I live in Toronto and I found your blog after a very quick google search. All I typed was: Toronto Halloween, Eyeball. I discovered more than I had hoped to. After braving College St. mobs, seeing the world with a 3 degree field of view…ironic that despite being a giant eyeball I had terrible peripheral vision.
I was photographed and mobbed by instant fans.
I even got punched in the retina by some drunk. (not as bad as it sounds since I was ensconced in styrofoam).
But you wouldn’t know this. You might only recall the bitter end of the evening. By chance, I demonstrated the story to a friend by retyping the search this year. I find video proof, and an offer.
Stranded here with half an eyeball. Are you good for the other half?
Sincerely,
Eyeball Kid
(I would like to post a photo, the story needs more, let me know…)
