Yes, I’m Grumpy

Yup, I’m grumpy. Sunday nights are always amazing hard on me. For some reason I can never get to sleep, and end up tossing and turning most of the night. Last night was no exception, and I think I’m running on about two or three hours of sleep now. Plus, i woke up with a splitting headache and a stomach-ache, so I’m not a happy camper today.

Of course, Vancouver is being rained on again, and it looks dark and dismal out. Soon I’ll have to don my jacket and make the 30 minute trek to work, getting completely soaked in the process. Good times.

In other news, I spent some time this weekend doing some more social networking stuff. I redid a facebook application and added a flash media player to it, which I think makes it pretty cool. I’m also going to dive into OpenSocial this week and see what kind of magic I can squeeze out of it.

Eventually I’ll have a RSS feed on here that has all my writings from the internet in it, but for now, here is an article I wrote over at matthewgood.org that involves a sad teen suicide.

* Update 1 - I came into work this morning and my Windows box is basically dead. Grumpy + 1.
* Update 2 - I have to interview a guy here for a high level developer position, but the guy’s tie is about four inches too short. This should be interesting.
* Update 3 - Computer at work is toast. I seem to be good at killing them lately. IT guy is going to town on it now.

If anyone has anything happy to say, let me know - I could use a whole bag of happy this morning.

Short work week for those of us in the US!! I guess that’s not as happy for you as it is for me. Just keep thinking about the beautiful Christmas lights you will come home to…Tuesday won’t be as bad, I promise.

Vancouver is monumentally better than US Thankgiving taking place in SUMMER!!!lol

And if your lucky, his pants will be 5 inches too short, which should be enough to make you smile…

And yes, it is “Heroes” night? What could be better than that?!?

    Cheers!!

How was the culture crawl? I wanted to check it out, but alas, my hangover ended up ruling the day.

The photo that you put up with this post is amazing.
I always suffer from the Sunday night blues and end up having a terrible sleep too on account of it too.

Thanks, I took that shot off my patio and then worked it over a bit in photoshop one evening while bored as hell.

    That photo is amazing!

Saw the suicide story on CNN the other day. I was shocked to find out that Josh was actually some girl’s mom.

Hi Duane. Thanx again for the post about the 13 year old girl on Matthews site. It has left me overwhelmed I might add, because it hits so close to home but you did a great thing by putting it out there for people to discuss. It is amazing the different response I am seeing. Anyways on a lighter note. If you don’t like the rain in Vancouver…… leave. Simple. ha ha. Hope I got a smile out of you for that silly comment:) I find cranking up a good tune and dancing like a crazy fool helps the blah feeling go away. It looks like you have a great view of the city so get in front of that big window and shake your junk for all to see. Hee Hee Have a great day!

oh my gosh–you shoulda been on jaiku last night to commiserate! i was being all whiny and emo on a (semi) public forum ;-)

now, i don’t know if you still need cheering up, but i have been meaning to say this anyway: i wanted to thank you for publicizing your over abundance of christmas cheer. i was feeling all down on christmas (as i sometimes do), but slowly, your excitement over it started penetrating my humbuggy-ness. i started thinking to myself, ariane, what do you really want for christmas this year? and it came to me–i really want to spend christmas in vancouver. i have ever since i moved out here (this will be my ninth xmas since then)… so i decided what the heck, i’ll run the idea past my parents (my dad doesn’t really like to travel) and a few days later, they called and said they were going to come out here for it! so, not only do i get my christmas in vancouver, but i also get christmas with my folks!

i couldn’t believe it! and now i am actually pretty excited about it all :-) looking for a little tree, wondering where the heck my christmas lights ended up when i moved…looking forward to putting up my advent calendar in another week and a half…

so thank-you duane, and cheer up, cause you may just have made this year the christmas i’ve been waiting for for almost a decade. :-)
