New Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro Announced

Today Apple officially unveiled the new Apple MacBook and MacBook pro laptops. Not a whole lot of excitement with the announcements, since many people were expecting a new form factor, but it looks like there are a few small improvements. Of note is the addition of the multi-touch track pad that is part of the Apple MacBook Air Notebook, more video memory, and faster CPU speeds.

You can read more about it here.

Thanks man, I’ll fix it up. I deleted that link in your comment just because it didn’t wrap for some reason.

I was just trying to decide to go laptop or desktop.

“The new MacBook Pro has the performance, power, and connectivity of a desktop computer. Without the desk part.”

That kind of answers my question.

Pamela…if you want just one computer that can do everything, a MacBook or MacBook Pro is the answer…which one will depend on your needs and wallet.

I’ve really wanted a mac for a long time but I just couldn’t decide desktop or laptop. I think I’d like the portability of a MacBook. I’m a graphic and web designer so I’m constantly on my computer using Illustrator/Photoshop/Dreamweaver…all at the same time. Can a MacBook handle that? Or would a Pro be the better way?

Thanks for your comment. None of my friends know anything about computers so I need all the help I can get. Plus, I don’t trust salesmen.

Sorry for taking over your post, Duane.

Pamela - I would think a MacBook would be more than enough for the tasks…although you may want more screen real estate that the Pro would give you (and higher resolution options) but you can quickly get pretty expensive.

Also, since Apple just dropped some new machines, you can get yesterday’s model for a deal since that’s pretty much the only time Apple stuff goes on sale. Best Buy and London Drugs have already dropped their prices (that I know of) but you’ll have to move fast if you want them for a few $100 off.

Boo. My MB is officially old. Although it’s kinda annoying that they only put the multitouch in the Mac Pros (and increased their price by $200). Sneaky Jobs! Always after $$$.
