Weekend Roundup: Osoyoos

Posted on April 20th, 2009 in Travel :: No Comments

Last week John Bollwitt sent me a Twitter message and asked if I wanted to come out to the Okanagan this weekend. John was asked to setup for a live radio broadcast out at a winery, and unfortunately Rebecca couldn't go with him. So, being the amazingly awesome friend that I am, I packed up my camera and hopped into John's company's mini-cooper. It was a leisurely four hour drive from Chilliwack out to Osoyoos, and John and I just listened to music and got caught up. We basically just sat around and watched TV the first night, ...

John Bollwitt And The Stanley Cup

Posted on November 21st, 2008 in Asides :: 1 Comment

If you're a hockey fan, you gotta check out this photo. Apparently they brought the Stanley Cup by where my friend John was working, and he got a photo of it. Pretty cool.

September Birthday Round-Up

Posted on October 2nd, 2008 in Friends and Family :: 2 Comments

There were a few birthdays last month that I sort of missed in terms of blog entries. I do my best to get them all, but sometimes my schedule gets the best of me. The first birthday was my step-mom, Cathy's. Cathy's been an important person in my life ever since I was a little kid, and she's still there to help out today. And the other birthday was John Bollwitt, who recently celebrated the big three-oh. Happy (belated) birthday guys.

Entry #13: The Pains Of (Not) Owning A Car

Posted on July 26th, 2008 in Activism, Charity & Fundraising :: 2 Comments

The following is a guest entry by noted podcaster and new media guru, John Bollwitt. The true reason why I’m making this post is to make a guest appearance on Duane’s blog for Blogathon 2008. In fact, he tells me that the only way he’ll give me a ride home so I can go to bed is to make said post. But in a moment of “behold the power of blogging”, it made me recall a thought I had today about owning a car in general. Plain and simple, Rebecca and I don’t own a car. Part of ...

Entry #6: An Update From The Fort

Posted on July 26th, 2008 in Activism, Charity & Fundraising :: 2 Comments

First off, I'm going to put together a Blogathon-wide RSS feed so that people can follow what everyone is doing on blogathon without having to visit each site individually. You can subscribe to it by clicking here. Also, if you're part of blogathon, please drop a comment and I'll add you to the feed (I'm going to do my best to add everyone I know about), but given that time constraints of writing posts, it may take me a few hours. Raul and John at my place Raul and John are currently keeping me company at home. My laptop ...

One Last Video from Miss604’s House

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Bits and Bites :: No Comments

Here's a quick video from over at Rebecca and John's house. As you can see, I've been mucking with my theme a bit for the Junos. We'll see if it's still up in the morning. I'll probably be promoting my Juno posts to the front page in the morning as well. [blipit id=797982] ** no beers were hurt making this broadcast

Tired, But Heading South

Posted on March 7th, 2008 in Bits and Bites :: 3 Comments

I'm leaving in just a little while to make the trek south of the border. Tonight is Matthew Good's show down at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle, and John and I decided we'd go and listen to Matt, all while enjoying a few drinks away from home. Unfortunately, I haven't slept well all week, and last night didn't manage to close my eyes until almost 6am. When my alarm woke me up at around 9am, I was exhausted. So right now, I'm completely running on caffeinated fumes. I'll be fine for the drive, but I'm ...

Seattle Bound

Posted on March 5th, 2008 in Friends and Family, Music, Travel :: 2 Comments

Well, it's official -- John Bollwitt and I are heading south of the border Friday evening. We were just waiting to hear from John's work about ducking out a bit early on Friday, and he got the ok. John's booking tickets for the show, and I just grabbed a hotel near the space needle. Photo By Chethan Shankar on Flickr I haven't been to Seattle in over a year, so it should be fun heading down for the evening. The concert is at the Tractor Tavern, which is about a 10-15 minute cab ride away from downtown. ...

Another Weekend Of Duane

Posted on February 29th, 2008 in Friends and Family, Personal :: 6 Comments

It's that time again - the weekend. Last night I attended a preview party for Strutta's new product they've been working on for the last year. I'll write more about this when I have the coveted "Jordan Screenshot" that everyone was talking about. In essence Strutta has developed a pretty funky social network that appeals to the competitive nature of most people. I.e., "Think you're better than me? Go ahead and prove it. " It's a neat concept, and it will be cool to see where it goes once they launch (which should be ...
