Entry #12 – Rebecca Bollwitt

Posted on July 25th, 2009 in Charity & Fundraising, Friends and Family :: No Comments

I first met Rebecca at Northern Voice a few years ago. I had recognized her from her Vancouver blog, and also from some photos from a private Matthew Good show that happened a few years ago in his living room. We were both on our way to get some beer (a recurring theme in our friendship), and chatted briefly. At the time, I'm pretty sure she thought I was crazy, but I'd chat with her every once and a while during the course of the weekend. Strangely enough my 30th birthday was shortly afterwards, and I invited ...

Rebecca and Teddy

Posted on February 28th, 2009 in Bits and Bites :: 2 Comments

That's Rebecca and Teddy at my place in Chilliwack. Teddy was given to me by my grandma when I was less than a year old. I've had him ever since, and have been keeping him around for when my first kid is born. As a kid, Teddy and I went through lots of hard times, and it's pretty encouraging to know he's still around to see me through the bad times, even as an adult. When my grandma went into surgery years ago, I thought I'd return the favour, and left Teddy under her arm in ...

The Ties That Bind

Posted on January 29th, 2009 in Bits and Bites :: No Comments

Tomorrow I'm heading back to Vancouver, most likely to make my last appearance for at least a month or two. As it's the 30th of the month, I need to clean my apartment out there and give the keys back to the owner. I've been told workers are still frantically trying to put the ceiling in the bathroom back together, but since I don't live there, it's not really my problem I guess. The good news is that if the workers are still working away, it'll probably reduce the amount of cleanup I'll be expected ...

Happy Birthday Rebecca Bollwitt

Posted on January 8th, 2009 in Friends and Family :: 9 Comments

Tomorrow (depending on when you read this), is Rebecca Bollwitt's birthday (or Friday, if you're looking for an absolute time). I first met Rebecca at Northern Voice 2007 I believe, and had just come out of my first round of surgery (thanks to those four idiots who put me in the hospital). It was a time when I desperately needed the support of others the most, and a role her and John took up instantly in my life. Since that time, Rebecca and John have become really close friends of mine here in Vancouver, and ...

BarCamp Vancouver, WordCamp, PhotoCamp, And BeerCamp

Posted on September 26th, 2008 in Blogging, Vancouver, Wordpress :: 2 Comments

Yes people, it's that time again. BarCamp Vancouver is only a few hours from kicking off down at WorkSpace in GasTown. For those of you not familiar with it, BarCamp is an unconference where people get together and determine the topics at the conference the day of the event. Everyone who attends is potentially a speaker, so it's a great forum for learning new things and being expose to new ideas. Rebecca Bollwitt and I are organizing a session of WordCamp tomorrow down in Granville Island, which should be a lot of fun. I currently have a desk full ...

Blogathon 2008 & Union Gospel Update

Posted on July 30th, 2008 in Activism, Charity & Fundraising :: 2 Comments

Rebecca posted a comment on another entry that said as of last night, we raised $7,992.50 for the Union Gospel Mission over the weekend. That's the total between pledges on my blog, pledges on Rebecca's blog, and Matt's demo listening auction that went for $4000. Best part is that my mom had to mail her donation in because she couldn't figure out the online system (not sure where I get my computer skills from honestly). That means when it arrives, we'll be up to $8,092.50!. In terms of the entire blogathon effort, I think 13 bloggers raised ...

Blogger Profile: Rebecca Bollwitt, Miss604

Posted on July 29th, 2008 in Around The Web, Vancouver :: 4 Comments

Well, I would hope that Rebecca would need no introduction in this city. But that being said, Rebecca has gone out of her way time and time again to throw link love towards other bloggers, and share whatever knowledge she can with others. So, the least I can do for a good friend is return the favour. Over the last few years Rebecca has firmly established her blog as the most informative and relevant source of information on Vancouver life, bar none. Her blog is a enjoyable mix of personal reflections within the city, upcoming Vancouver events, and ...

One Last Video from Miss604’s House

Posted on April 3rd, 2008 in Bits and Bites :: No Comments

Here's a quick video from over at Rebecca and John's house. As you can see, I've been mucking with my theme a bit for the Junos. We'll see if it's still up in the morning. I'll probably be promoting my Juno posts to the front page in the morning as well. [blipit id=797982] ** no beers were hurt making this broadcast

Bloggers Kick Ass

Posted on January 20th, 2008 in Uncategorized :: 4 Comments

I watched Test The Nation tonight to see how the Bloggers and Rebecca faired on the show. The bloggers, in pure geeky awesomeness, managed the win! Here's a shot of Rebecca holding the winning trophy! Photo by Miss604 Congrats guys! You did us all proud. John Biehler posted some great clips of Rebecca rocking Test The Nation. Check it out (and listen to the idiots booing in the background -- I guess they thought they'd win?) I'm bookmarking your blog too.
