So, I didn't start this challenge, but I gladly played along with it. I just checked, and I"m still in the #1 spot for Vancouver Blogger. The festivities tonight start at 6pm, so I'm assuming that's when Northern Voice officially starts. I was sort of expecting someone to fly ahead at the last second, and maybe that will still happen. But unless something major changes or Google does another index, it's looking pretty good for camp Duane. Anyone want to concede defeat at this point? :)

One of the changes I made on the site the other day was the inclusion of wordpress related entries plugin when viewing single posts. Unfortunately wordpress has completely overhauled their folksonomy system in the 2.3 version, and not all my posts are tagged properly. In fact, I'd say only about 20% of them really are. I'm going to try and do about 10 of my old posts a day or something like that to try and get them up to snuff, but it's a fairly boring process, only made possible by this bottle of pinot beside me. ...

Well, a few people came up to me recently and told me that they encountered a blog posting today about my #1 spot when you search for "Vancouver blogger" on Google, and how the blog owner was planning a Google coup-d'etat against me before Northern Voice in just a few weeks. To be honest, I could really care less about my rank on Google for the phrase "Vancouver blogger", but I think it's sort of a humorous effort, and I'm always up for a challenge. I'm purposefully not going to take the bait and point back to his blog (haha!), ...

Well, well. Lookie what we have here.. Somehow, Google is in a state of flux. My top #1 position has indeed been usurped, but thankfully I still have a few weeks to get it back. I'm not going to get too excited about daily changes, but I definitely don't want to lose out, especially after all my trash talking. So, I'll see if I can pull a few aces out of my sleeve in the next week or so. At the very least, this is a pretty neat exercise in the realm of search engine ...
