Teeth Update #2
I went down to my orthodontist today and picked up the first Essix tray. Basically it’s a vacuum formed piece of a plastic with a few small modifications in it to move my teeth. It’s very similar to Invisalign, except the process is a bit more manual from the orthodontists side, and you don’t have to bring a wheelbarrow full of money down each time. Teeth Update
So before dropping between $2600 and $6400 on Invisalign, I thought I would go down to my orthodontist (the guy who straightened my teeth as a kid) and see what he said about my teeth. I had talked to his office on the phone, and they said that they don’t do Invisalign. Turns out, that’s not entirely true. Just A Kick In The Head
As many people know, I suffered a few facial fractures back in 2006. The primary result of that incident was to put my cheekbone slightly out of alignment, as well as the complete destruction of the bone under my left eye (other than maybe a 1mm ledge on one side, there’s literally nothing there any more). Quest For Noiselessness
I’ve been striving hard to reduce the amount of online “noise” in my life lately. Without setting any quantitative goals, I’ve been working relentlessly on removing distractions and trying to minimize interruptions. Normally when I wake up I have around 50 messages waiting for me in my inbox. Our Pale Blue Dot
With recent world events, I found myself reminded of an image and a few words. In 1977 the Voyager spacecraft was turned around and a photograph was taken of earth from far away. The end result is this image, showing earth as a small, pale blue dot. As everyone in Vancouver now knows, Derek Miller passed away Tuesday evening and his final blog post, written before his death, was published online first thing in the morning. When I first read the post, I did so thinking it was an actual update from a living Derek, and had to read it twice before it sunk in on me that he was actually gone.
