Apple just announced an ultra-think notebook computer called the Air.

Looks pretty cool, but it doesn’t have a DVD drive, and is sealed shut like a big iPod. Based on my experiences with my Macbook Pro and Leopard, I think I’m definitely pulling myself out of the “early-adopter” crowd with Apple and waiting a while this round to see what happens.
When mine arrives, I’ll bring it over 😉
Way more than I wanted to pay but couldn’t resist.
Yah… I mean, it’s the same speed as a Macbook and is missing a DVD drive, but is somehow $500 more? I guess you pay for coolness.
It’s like Aero chocolate bars…you pay for the bubbles made of air.
you should watch that youtube video from MadTV about how apple comes out with a new thing EACH year and it’s always smaller and everyone’s always gotta keep up 😛
I don’t like the fact that the RAM and battery are soldered in. Also there’s no ethernet port.
I like the idea of no DVD drive, but I’m not sure how well this Remote CD ROM thing will work.
I rarely use my laptop for watching movies, so having an external DVD drive isn’t really a big deal for me. But not being able to pop in a repair disk or a DVD at will does seem like it might be a bit limiting for people.
I think fluffy bought one at MacWorld yesterday. We’ll have to wait and see what he thinks.
I think I will eventually get it. Remote Disc looks good enough for me on an N network. I really desire the form factor and 3lb weight. It’s also Apple’s most environmentally friendly offering, which I am in support of.
