First Show, Starting Shortly – Updated

Last modified on March 7th, 2008

I ducked out early from work this afternoon to make the 3 hour drive south of the border to Seattle. I had an absolutely terrible sleep last night, and have spent most of today trying to motivate my body to action with nothing more than caffeine and more recently a few beers. I imagine the end result is fairly similar to attempting to drive a tractor using some weird manure-based diesel.

John Bollwitt and I recently checked into one of the world’s most luxurious Holiday Inn Expresses I’ve even seen, and are getting ready to cab down to the show. I just went over to the official website of the Tractor Travern to see what time the show started, and found this:

So, it looks like it’s going to be a jam packed show, which is great since it’s the very first one. I was lucky enough to catch Matt play in Toronto and Kelowna on the Canadian tour, which was really awesome. But to be honest, I’m just as excited, if not more excited, to catch a show in a small venue again. The very first show of Matt’s I ever saw was back in 1997 down at a small nightclub in Vancouver called Richards on Richards. I’m not really sure what type of venue the Tractor Tavern is, but it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a great show.

Both John and I brought along our cameras, so hopefully one of us will be able to grab a few shots of tonight’s show that I can post here after. So until then, drink ’em if you’ve got ’em, and enjoy your Friday night.

** Updated – The concert is over. As expected, it was totally awesome, especially given the size of the venue. Unfortunately for me, I was sandwiched between the drunkest guy in the place and a group of guys who thought it was cool to yell out “Hello Time Bomb!” after every song. That being said, the majority of the crowd was totally into the concert, and I thought it sounded really great.

As promised, here are a few shots from the show. First, the lovely Miss Courtney Jones (who I thought was not only super cute, but also had an amazing voice).

And the man of the hour, who put on an amazing show:

After the show I spent some time talking to some fans, some of which even flew all the way up from Texas to see him. Great turn-out — you guys on the rest of the tour are in for a treat.
