How Often Do You Check Your E-Mail?

Last modified on October 24th, 2008

I moved my desk at work to a recently vacated spot by the window. It’s a nice change being able to look out over Vancouver while I’m at my desk. I have a few minutes to kill here, so I thought I’d post a poll.

Here’s today’s question:

Uhm.. It all depends on which email account. 😀

I have my work email, gmail, hotmail, yahoo and home email (ISP issued email account).

Work email – I get an Outlook notification. If it looks important, I check.
Gmail – I have the Gmail notifier, so if it looks interesting I check.
Hotmail – I check at least once a day.
Yahoo – I don’t get too many emails there so at most once a week.
ISP email acct – At least once daily.

Both at home and work, I get a little new mail notifier in my dock so I usually check right away when I see something. Whether I answer it right away… that’s a whooooole other story.

(Does clearing out the basement count as fun? Didn’t think so, not by any standards I know of.)

My answer is the same as Kelly’s. I have Outlook (at work) or Entourage (at home) open at all times and I’ll see new e-mails come in. If I can, I’ll handle them right then. If not, they wait.
I’ve heard you get more work done if you only check your e-mail every so often. My problem with that is that part of my job is support-related so I have to check e-mail practically all the time at work.

I’m headed to a football game tomorrow night. Other than that, I don’t have anything planned.

I don’t have a little notify thingy or a beep, so I obsessively check my email while I’m sitting here.

As for fun, I have to get up disgustingly early tomorrow to help out at a breakfast AND we scheduled soem client work for the ame time.

I have to move, upgrade, and merge one WPMU into another tomorrow. That sounds like fun, right?

Oh. As for fun this weekend? Not entirely sure. It’s expected to be a wet weekend. Maybe I’ll cocoon and catch up on some DVDs.

Heading downtown again tonight buddy. Going to the Lions game then somewhere on the town!

    Strippers rule.

Not sure how FUN this is, but I’m moving to Calgary this weekend! I guess it will be kind of fun, since I don’t know what my apartment looks like. My aunt is an interior decorator, so whatever she chose for me will be fine I’m sure…it’s actually kind of exciting! I just wish I was moving in June, not October! Oh well.
