My Bags Are Packed – Heading To Las Vegas

Last modified on June 29th, 2007

So, I’m just doing my last little bit of packing, and then in a few hours I’m heading to the airport for my flight to Vegas. If anyone wants to see what is happening down there in real time, head over to Rebecca’s blog for live updates. I’m going to be adding to my Flickrset for the event, so check that out as well (I’ll add the images below here in real-time, assuming I can borrow an internet connection and haven’t drunken myself into a coma).

I decided to leave my wide-angle lens at home, and just bring the 24-70 f/2.8L lens, which is actually a faster lens, and at 24mm is fairly close to the 17mm I have on my other lens. So, we’ll see if that is a good idea or not come Monday. And for those of you that know me, you’ll know that my stomach is a bit knotty since I actually hate to fly. Usually a beer or two at the airport is enough to get me through it, and I’ve never not gotten on a plane, but I bitch and complain for most of it.

I don’t land until 6:30pm Vegas time, which is gonna make things pretty tight for me to be at the party at 7pm. But, I figure if everything goes my way it will hopefully work out fine. I’m printing out the directions now, and I’m hoping I can put on a CSI t-shift, wave my Google-map directions in front of a Vegas cabby, and end up in the right spot on time. Wish me luck.

I’m not sure if this will work, but if the stars align, maybe this link will show you real-time updates of where my flight is – it’s Philippine Airlines, Flight 106.

9:30am – I just realized that my camera is completely dead from the Stanley Park shoot last weekend.. Good thing I noticed before getting on the plane.

10:30am – Camera now charged, and my camera bag is packed.. Apparently my camera can do 1000 shots on one charge.. I’d guess that it’s more like 500-750, but that’s pretty good still. Gear of the weekend is Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 (good for low light), Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L and Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L (it’s a heavy bag with that in it). I also put some shoes in my camera bag. So it’s not really a camera bag anymore.. It’s more of a shoe/camera bag.

11:43am – Rebecca just pinged me on iChat — she just landed in Las Vegas.

1:00pm – Packing up my Mac and driving down to the airport.. Hopefully will have internet somewhere there.. I haven’t eaten yet, so I’m going to have a snack and a beer.
