Sick At Home

Last modified on September 20th, 2007

The other day I had a nap after work, and woke up with achy joints and wicked headache. Since then, things have only gotten worse. I tried to go into work on Wednesday but had a really bad case of the chills, so bad that I was having trouble typing since my hands were shaking so much. I left work part way through the day and slept basically from around 1pm until midnight. At that point I woke up with a major fever, and think I was pretty delirious since I was having some weird argument in my head trying to convince myself to go to sleep.

Today I woke up completey exhausted, still with aching joints and a headache. I had forgotten that the cleaners were coming today, so as soon as they showed up, I grabbed a blanket and slept for an hour in the back seat of my car downstairs, since I just didn’t have the ability to stay awake. I’ve hardly eaten anything in two days, mainly because I’ve had trouble keeping it all down, and have been in bed most of the time.

Unfortunately, tonight was the Matthew Good concert in Vancouver, and I was forced to bail on it. About the time everyone was meeting to head down, I was stuck in bed shivering, despite the heat being on fairly high. For a guy that rarely gets sick, I’ve sure had my share of bad ailments the last six months.

My fever broke earlier in the evening, but it appears to be picking back up again. It seems that my body is struggling pretty hard to get rid of whatever it is that’s causing this. For the first time in about two days, I can actually stay awake for more than about 10 minutes at a time, so I hope that means I’m starting to get better.

I’m pretty disappointed that I had to miss Matt’s concert. I’m hoping maybe I’ll be able to catch it on another location in Canada somewhere before it’s all over, but we’ll see. I hope all you guys that went had a good time.
