Thank God It's Friday

Last modified on January 11th, 2008

Ahh yes.. Friday.. So exciting.. This was a really good week. I hung out with friends, got some stuff done in the office, and have a pile of fun things to do this weekend. After work I’m meeting up with Rebecca, Kasia and maybe Keira for some wings and beer. Life’s rough I know. Plus on the way over I want to buy a flash diffuser over at Leo’s Camera on Granville, something that I used at the last wedding I shot and wished I actually owned.

Tomorrow there are two parties, one for Rebecca’s birthday and one for Kasia’s. I have to make appearances at both, but I think I can pull it off. And on Sunday is the beach photowalk I’ve been organizing. Should be a great time. I’ll post some links to the photos once they start making their way onto Flickr.

I’m also listening to “Starts with One” by Shiny Toy Guns right now, and I have to say it’s fairly kick ass.

What kind of diffuser are you getting? Been looking around at the different ones since picking up a flash unit over the holidays.

Kerrisdale cameras wanted $35 for a little piece of white plastic that can be had on ebay for $0.95. (aka the tupperware diffuser).

Also thinking of getting an inflatable softbox (set myself up for some jokes with that)…also on ebay for under $5 but $40-60+ at a camera store.

Just one of those omni-bounce things or whatever, the little plastic that slips over.. They actually work quite well indoors. I should check out eBay.. I imagine they’ll want $30 downtown here too..

    Something like this.

The wife and I have been wanting to do one of the photowalks, especially since we finally got a digital body for my SLR equipment. I’m rusty and need to practise, and my wife needs to learn.

Unfortunately, you’ve picked the day that we are having a dinner to celebrate my inlaw’s 55th anniversary, so we won’t make this one. Pity, looks like the weather decided to cooperate. Have fun!

BTW, when we got the new body a few months ago, I went eBay crazy and bought a bunch of stuff such as spare batteries and chargers, and the best deals we got were from Hong Kong and China eBay sellers. As an example, we bought spare batteries; the Canon battery is $70 for and 3rd party ones are $40 at the stores. From two different sellers I grabbed 3rd party batteries that hold more of a charge than the Canon original and cost me 99 cents plus $4 shipping.

Of course I forgot to add them to my favourite sellers.
