Where Are The Best Nachos In Vancouver?

Last modified on September 28th, 2013

My birthday is fast approaching, and the only real event I’m looking forward to is having a plate of nachos somewhere in the city with a friend or two. So, my question to all of you is: where are the best nachos in this city?

My favourites so far are probably the ones down at Smiley O’Neils on Pender, but I’m open to suggestions. Drop a comment if you’ve had nachos somewhere in the city and let everyone know how they were (if they sucked, say so).

I had nachos last night down at the Atlantic Trap and Gill, and the beef on them was actually a cut-up hamburger patty — not cool people. Not cool.

I seem to have heard that YOU make the best nachos in the city!

It would seem that my legend proceeds me. It’s true, mine are pretty awesome.

But I’d love to find a few places to hit in Vancouver.

Oh man, I love the Trap & Gill. It makes me feel like I’m back in Halifax with the cheap beer and the casual attire. But the food there is just awful… definitely NOT a reflection of real Halifax pub food.

I love the nachos at The Foundation. No beef on those, though!

Poncho’s also has yummy nachos, and the best margarita in town.

I went out with Rob Sample one night after an ultimate game to Father and Son’s in Ottawa (we don’t frequent the joint anymore), and I think he had spaghetti where it was pasta, sauce from a can and a cut up hamburger patty…. Gross.

    Mmmm… Nachos… Wish I could join. 🙂

I think Raul might have some insights on anything restaurant related in Vancouver 😛 I think the Poncho’s ones were pretty good eh? I don’t remember… didn’t we also get a pitcher of margaritas that night? hehe

I thought those ones we had late at night on my birthday were really good, what was that place called again? Something-parrots? Then again, my judgment may have been affected by the many martinis I made disappear.

Hmmmm… Nachos… well, I’ve had Tio Pepe’s (on Commercial) but wasn’t particularly impressed. Though I haven’t tried Poncho’s, but I might do that this weekend just to test the waters. I know – Atlantic Trap and Gill is great for beers and music, but awful for nachos.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Rebecca 🙂

Out in Ottawa one time I ordered nachos and they had this weird ingredient on top. After investigating, it turned out they had put potato on the nachos. I asked the waitress why, and she said that when you order beef nachos, they pull the beef out of the beef stew, and sometimes the carrots and potatoes go with it.

Seriously, how hard is it to make good nachos?

Lou’s Grill. If they still make em like they used to (bigger than your head).

  11. I enjoy the nachos down at the Mill. Get them with the pulled pork. They might seem expensive, but it’s a massive serving. If being bigger than your head is mandatory, I do think they qualify.

They need to be bigger than my ass. I’ll check them out for sure, thanks.

the charlatan on commercial (used to be bukowski’s) has wicked nachos. soooo big though. you’d need several friends to help you with them. there’s almost too much cheese, if that’s possible. yummy.

I can’t believe they cut up a burger patty and laid that on a bed of natchos. Real classy.

I too make a mean plate o’natchos and some killa guacamole. I think this calls for a natcho-off 😉

I’d be very happy to be a judge if you guys hold a nacho-off 🙂

Maybe its too late for ur birthday but…go to Score on Davie. U can do beef or chicken nachos and they are ohhh sooo good. They layer the cheese and everything! Plus I only tried it once, but they had a garden veg nachos with broccoli and stuff on it and it was really good too.

Hands down……. (and this may come as a surprise)……. but the BEST nachos in the city of Vancouver can be found in the piano lounge of the fabled Hotel Vancouver. Pricey, atmosphere a bit stuffy (but totally non-threatening), but the plate that is served there is nothing short of divine. Guaranteed. Report back and spread the word. I promise you will NOT find better.
