Duane Storey is a Vancouver-based writer and photographer. His website, duanestorey.com, started as a simple site showcasing his photography several years ago. Since then, it has grown to focus on various aspects of technology, photography, and environmental sustainability, and currently receives around 250,000 page views a year. Duane also is a contributor on several other community blogs, including Urban Vancouver, BraveNewCode and matthewgood.org, the home of Canadian Musician and human rights’ advocate, Matthew Good.

Duane enjoys all aspects of photography, and has photographed everything from weddings to the 2008 Canadian Juno Awards in Calgary. His high dynamic range photographs of Vancouver have become well known, and he has been invited to speak on the subject at several photography conferences.

Duane’s thoughts and ramblings are often quoted in local publications, and are detailed further in the press publications section below. In addition, Duane is often invited to speak at local technology and photography events — more information about those events can be found in the speaking engagements section below.

Notable Publications

Duane recently had several photos published in Air Transat’s in-flight magazine, Atmosphere. In addition, he also recently completed a photoshoot for Canadian soccer player Martina Franko for Puma, the sports company. The photos from the shoot ended up in several publications and websites. Several of his photographs of Canadian musician Matthew Good were also used by various publications across Canada and on the internet during Matthew’s last cross-country tour. Photographs he took of Lindsay Ell at the 2008 Junos Awards are currently in use on her MySpace page and will be also be incorporated into her upcoming website soon to be relaunched.

Duane attended the 2008 Canadian Juno Awards in Calgary, Alberta on assignment from Urban Vancouver. He covered the Juno Cup, the Juno Fan Fare, the Saturday night awards ceremony, and the televised Juno Ceremony hosted by Russell Peters.

Launch Party Vancouver III

Launch Party Vancouver is one of the largest technology socials in Western Canada. Duane was commissioned as one of the official photographers. The event was held at the Lamplighter in Vancouver’s Gastown District.
